The back patio at Aberdeen Elementary School came alive with energy, cheers, and fierce determination on Saturday, May 24th, 2025 as Roughhouse Boxing proudly hosted the first edition of USA Boxing: Knuckles Up. The event marked an exciting milestone for the City of Hampton, combining community spirit, local talent, and the thrill of the ring.
From young kids just stepping into the sport to determined young adults honing their skills, boxers of all ages had the opportunity to compete in a safe, supportive, and professionally organized environment. The competition showcased not only athletic talent but also the discipline, heart, and sportsmanship that boxing instills in its participants.
With upbeat music, delicious food vendors, and appearances by local personalities, the event felt more like a community festival than just a competition. Families, coaches, and fans filled the space, cheering loudly and proudly for their hometown fighters.
"Today was about more than boxing," said one of the organizers from Roughhouse Boxing. "It was about building confidence, creating opportunity, and keeping the youth out of trouble."
As gloves came off, medals and trophies were handed out, and watching the competitors reward each other and leave the ring as friends—regardless of who won or lost—was truly uplifting. "One thing was clear — Knuckles Up is just the beginning of something powerful in Hampton’s boxing scene.
